Elevated Fecal Bacteria Advisory Issued for Cobbetts Pond

The advisory was issued on June 11.

An elevated fecal bacteria beach advisory has been issued for Cobbetts Pond in Windham, according to the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services.

The advisory was issued after a sample collected on June 10 exceeded the state standard.

The advisory will remain until bacteria counts are below the state standard. A yellow NHDES sign is typically placed at the beach to indicate that the advisory has been issued and that the water is not suitable for wading or swimming.

The sign does not indicate that the beach is closed to the public, but those in the area are advised to enter the water at their own risk.

Similar advisories went out last summer for both Arlington Pond and Hedgehog Pond in Salem, along with this summer for Second Street Beach in Salem.
