From the Community Development Department:
Have a big garden with a surplus of vegetables? Raising chickens and want to market your eggs? Perhaps you keep bees and have a surplus of honey that you would like to sell. In keeping with its rural character, Windham Zoning and Land Use Regulations permit a resident to sell homegrown produce and local homegrown farm products.
Roadside farm stands are permitted in Windham in residential zones as long as the products sold are grown or produced on site or on a site of the farm stand owner. No permanent buildings or structures may be constructed for the roadside farm stand and products sold must be seasonal and temporary in nature. The farm stand must also be an accessory use to a residential use on the same lot.

A permit is not required to operate a temporary farm stand; however, any signs intended to advertise the business require a temporary sign permit. Signs must be placed on same parcel as the farm stand and may be displayed for the duration of the product that is advertised.
If you need a temporary sign permit to advertise your business, applications may be printed out directly from the town website: www.windhamnewhampshire.com. Application forms are also available for pick up at the Community Development Department open Monday-Friday from 8am-4pm. If you have any questions feel free to call Elizabeth Wood, Community Planner at 432-3806 or email: ewood@windhamnewnewhampshire.com.
