A Weare man was killed in a one-car crash on Interstate 93 in Windham on Wednesday night.

Around 7:08 p.m., state police and Windham firefighters responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on I-93 north in the area of the Windham scales, approximately one mile north of Exit 3 in Windham.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the driver could not maintain control of his vehicle due to the fact that it was overloaded with roofing shingles. As a result, his vehicle crashed into the left side guardrail, veered to the right across both lanes of travel, then veered back to the left, crashing into the left side guardrail again, at which time the operator was ejected from the vehicle.

The driver was identified as Donald Galligan, 54, of Weare. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The vehicle was destroyed from the crash and was towed from the scene.

Both of the I-93 northbound lanes were closed and traffic was directed through the northbound scales for approximately three hours while the scene was cleared.

Anyone with information about this accident is asked to call Trooper James Powers at New Hampshire State Police Troop B at 603-223-4381.
