Officials Respond to Toddler Pulled From Pool

A pulse has been found and the victim is being transferred to Elliot Hospital in Manchester.

Windham Fire and Police officials responded to a drowning 3-year-old girl pulled from a family pool on Sunday afternoon, according to a release from Fire Chief Tom McPherson.

McPherson said that officials responded to a call at 3 Marblehead Road just after 4:30 p.m. for a possible pediatric drowning. CPR was initiated on scene prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.

Once firefighters arrived, McPherson said that CPR and advance life support measures continued until the child was transported by WFD ambulance to Parkland Medical Center in Derry.

Emergency department staff continued performing life support measures until a pulse was detected.

A WMUR report has since identified the toddler as the daughter of State Rep. Richard Okerman of Windham, who said it looks like she will survive. Okerman is also listed at that address.

WFD was informed that the victim was being transferred to Elliot Hospital in Manchester for further treatment and care.

Emergency crews were told on the scene that the toddler may have been in the pool for five minutes before being located. The above ground pool had a ladder and gate, but McPherson said that it was unclear exactly how the toddler got into the water.

The release added that more information will be released as soon as it is available to the department. No other information was provided on the girl's condition at this hour.
