Five Things: Annual Tree Lighting Date Set

Also, a congratulations to WHS football on a great season.

1. TODAY'S FORECAST: Rain, snow and wind will pelt Windham throughout the day with a high of 40 expected. Expect an overnight low of 30.

2. SAVE THE DATE FOR ANNUAL TREE LIGHTING: The town has set a date of Dec. 8 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. for the annual tree lighting festivities. As always, Santa will arrive by fire truck  and there will be a bonfire, crafts, the Community Band and other festivities.

3. CONGRATS TO WHS FOOTBALL: Due to the elections, we haven't received a chance on Windham Patch to acknowledge Windham High School football. The squad suffered a tough 20-13 loss on Saturday in the Division IV semifinals, ending the season. This season was the Jaguars' first in Division IV. Congratulations on a job well done and good luck next year!

4. THIS DAY IN HISTORY: On this day in 1864, Northern voters overwhelmingly endorse the leadership and policies of President Abraham Lincoln when they elect him to a second term. With his re-election, any hope for a negotiated settlement with the Confederacy vanished.
