1. TODAY'S FORECAST: Today will be rainy and windy, with a high of 49.  Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low of 31.

2. MAYAN APOCALYPSE?: There's been a lot of discussion recently about the end of the world, most of it centering around the date Dec. 21, 2012. But if the experts know what they're talking about, there's no need to worry, as they say it's not going to happen.

3. BOYS, GIRLS BASKETBALL WIN: The boys basketball team at Windham High won 57-40 at home on Thursday over Milford. The girls won over Merrimack Valley on the road 59-48.

4. THIS DAY IN HISTORY: On this day in 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 from London to New York exploded in midair over Lockerbie, Scotland, killing all 243 passengers and 16 crew members aboard, as well as 11 Lockerbie residents on the ground. A bomb hidden inside an audio cassette player detonated in the cargo area when the plane was at an altitude of 31,000 feet. The disaster, which became the subject of Britain's largest criminal investigation, was believed to be an attack against the United States, as 189 of the victims were American.
