Five Things: Moving and Grooving Workshop

1. TODAY'S FORECAST: A high of 46 and sunny skies today will open up to p.m. showers. Expect a low of 27 and rain turning into snow tonight.

2. SCHOOL BOARD MEETS: The board will meet an hour earlier than usual at 6 p.m. in the Community Development Department.

3. MOVING AND GROOVING WORKSHOP: A workshop at Golden Brook School presented by Betsy Purcell, OTR/L and Cindy Bortz, OTR/L, and Melissa MacDonald, M.Ed.

Targeted for parents of children in kindergarten.

Fun, interactive hands on workshop with strategies to foster fine motor development and beginning printing and writing skills.

Exposure to Fundations, Handwriting Without Tears, and multi-sensory foundation activities.

The event will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

4. THIS DAY IN HISTORY: On this day in 1777, the Continental Congress votes to promote Thomas Mifflin; Arthur St. Clair; William Alexander, Lord Stirling; Adam Stephen; and Benjamin Lincoln to the rank of major general. Although the promotions were intended in part to balance the number of generals from each state, Brigadier General Benedict Arnold felt slighted that five junior officers received promotions ahead of him and, in response, threatened to resign from the Patriot army.

5. CASINO BILL HEARING TODAY: This morning, the casino bill will be heard before Senate Ways and Means. The hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. in the Statehouse.
