2. SCHOOL BOARD TO MEET: With summer slowly winding down, the school board is beginning to meet at a more frequent rate. The board has a busy schedule ahead, and the packed agenda will begin at 5 p.m. at the Community Development Department. The meeting will include a facilities master plan discussion, talk about the Capital Improvement Plan list and options and time for public comment.

3. KEVIN SMITH IN WINDHAM: The gubernatorial candidate will appear at a house party tonight starting at 7. The event was announced as part of Smith's weekly schedule.

4. THIS DAY IN HISTORY: On July 31, 1975, James Riddle Hoffa, one of the most influential American labor leaders of the 20th century, disappears in Detroit, Michigan, never to be heard from again. Though he is popularly believed to have been the victim of a Mafia hit, conclusive evidence was never found, and Hoffa's death remains shrouded in mystery to this day.
