Legacy of Windham Cancer Victim Lives On
A team formed in honor of Patrice F. Burkett walked in Boston over the weekend.
By Lee and Michael Frucci
On Sunday, September 9th, Team PFB gathered a team of over 25 runners and walkers to once again support the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition in it's 14th Annual 5K Run/Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer at Carson Beach in South Boston. For the past six years, Team PFB has participated in the NOCC walk in September, raising over $25,000 for the Coalition's mission.
The mission of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition is to raise awareness and promote education about ovarian cancer. The Coalition is committed to improving the survival rate and quality of life for women with ovarian cancer. The Run/Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer is the largest fundraiser and awareness event for the Coalition. Organized by local Chapter volunteers, this event celebrates our survivors, remembers those we’ve lost to ovarian cancer and increases awareness about ovarian cancer.
Team PFB was formed in 2007 to honor Patrice F. Burkett, of Windham, NH. Patrice was diagnosed in 2004 with Stage IV ovarian cancer. She fought hard and long and always believed - believed in a cure, in medicine, in her family, in her doctors, in God. She lost her battle in July 2008. Patrice was a wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, friend, mentor and much more to so many people. We gather annually for the walk, but also to celebrate Patrice and all that she meant to us.
Thank you to everyone for your continued support.
Much Love,
Lee & Micheal Frucci
