Man Who Struck Windham Officer Doesn't Want Robbery Used as Evidence

The Union Leader reported the news today.

The Union Leader reported today that a man charged with assaulting a Windham police officer in 2009 does not want the jury to hear about his conviction for participating in a robbery of Bank of New England.

The paper reported that Clint Pickering, 27, of Epsom took part in the robbery just before a police pursuit along Interstate 93. Pickering's defense lawyer Neil Reardon told the paper that using the conviction would be "unfairly prejudicial" since the previous conviction has the intention of "inducing a guilty verdict."

The assault trial is scheduled to take place on Sept. 24.
