Middle School Dance Goes on Despite Student Gun Rumor

A dance planned at Windham Middle School on Friday went on as planned despite rumors circulated that a student may show up with a gun.

In an alert to parents, WMS Principal Dan Moulis confirmed that there was a rumor, but did not use specifics. Two parents of kids at the school spoke to the nature of the rumor, which circulated among the students via text messages.

Moulis said in his alert that police investigated the rumors and concluded that there was no substantial evidence for any safety concern.

He also added that it is still the parent's choice to send their child to the dance.
