Minnesota Congressman Critiziced for Windham Home is Ousted

Chip Cravaack lost his re-election bid.

Far away from the disaster that took place for Republicans in New Hampshire on Tuesday, another Republican with ties to the state also lost his re-election bid.

According to the Minnesota-based Brainerd Dispatch, Minnesota Congressman Chip Cravaack, who has faced criticism for owning a home in Windham, was beaten by Democratic challenger Rick Nolan in the state's 8th district.

The paper reported that Cravaack lost by a margin of 192,797 to 161,135 or 54.29 percent to 45.38 percent. He was a one-term U.S. Representative.

In April, Cravaack was challenged by the N.H. organization Granite State Progress to come clean about his residency:

If Congressman Cravaack ran in New Hampshire, he could spend more time with his family and not have to release those pesky records Minnesotans are demanding to find out how much time he is actually spending in Minnesota’s 8th District. The only challenge for Cravaack here in New Hampshire might be convincing his New Hampshire constituents that, despite his record in Minnesota, he sides with working families, not corporate special interests.

His family currently lives in a $645,000 colonial home on Sheffield St.

Cravaack told Minnesota's New Ulm Journal in October that the reason for the move was due to his son's autism.
