Windham Man Drowns in Canobie Lake
Police identified the man as 41-year-old David Mason.

UPDATE 10:30 P.M.: The Eagle-Tribune reported at this hour that the man found in Canobie Lake was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The paper also identified the man as David Mason, 41, of Prescott Road. His identity was released by Windham Police.
UPDATE 9:49 P.M.: We have received additional information from the Windham Fire Department that the man dragged out of the water tonight by two officials was not breathing upon transport.

Fire Lt. James Brown told Windham Patch that CPR was performed on the victim, but he was still not breathing when he was placed in the ambulance.
His condition is currently unknown. According to Brown, there will be more information from Windham Fire tomorrow morning.

UPDATE 7:43 P.M.: The Windham Fire Department has reported that a drowning man who was pulled from Canobie Lake tonight was spotted by some boats on the water.
According to Fire Lt. James Brown, the incident was called in just before 7 p.m. Upon arrival, the man, who he described as older with a gray beard, was about 20 feet off of the shore.
Windham firefighters Gordon Campbell and C.J. Lundergan completed the rescue, jumping in the water and bringing the man to shore.
Brown said the man is still in the hospital at this hour and his condition is unknown. He was transported to Parkland Medical Center.
Brown could not give an indication of how long the effort took to complete.

A drowning nearly took place in Windham tonight, according to a news alert issued around 7 p.m.
The report said that a male subject was pulled from the Canobie Lake water near West Shore Road, which curls right around the lake's shore.
Many swimmers have been taking to the Canobie Lake and Cobbett's Pond waters to cool off due to the extreme heat that has swooped into town over the past two days.
Earlier this month, drowned in Shadow Lake on the Salem side of the water body, but this is the first reported incident at Canobie Lake this season.
The victim's condition is currently unknown.
