Night Work to Close Route 111 After Christmas

Bridge steel installation is scheduled to occur.

Night work after Christmas is scheduled to close Route 111 to traffic, according to an announcement from the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.

On Dec. 26 and Dec. 27 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., work will take place at the I-93 southbound overpass weather permitting.

The work, according to the NHDOT, will involve the installation of structural steel for the I-93 southbound bridge over Route 111. The closing of that area is for safety reasons.

The work is being done at night to minimize the impact to motorists.

During that time, motorists will be re-routed and detour signs will direct people around the area using I-93 northbound and southbound.

Uniformed officers will also be on hand to assist with traffic control, and Interstate 93 traffic will not be impacted.

Additional closures are expected in the following weeks to complete the work.

This project is part of the construction of the new I-93 roadway in the vicinity of Exit 3.  E.D. Swett of Concord is the general contractor for the $11.5 million project, which is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2013.
