Early School Release in Windham Today

Here are six things you should know headed into this long holiday weekend.

1. Four-day recess. While other area school districts will have five days off for Thanksgiving break, Windham students get an early release today. (Please note that an earlier headline mistakenly identified today as a day off for Windham students. Our apologies for any confusion.)

2. Nutcrackers and dancing and sugar plum fairies, oh my! This weekend, the New England Dance Ensemble offers multiple performances of the timeless Christmas classic, The Nutcracker, at Windham High School. Several Windham dancers are performing in the show, which runs this Saturday, Nov. 30 and Sunday, Dec. 1. Find additional details, including ticket information, by clicking here.

3. Lace 'em up this holiday!
This Thanksgiving, hundreds of people of all ages from Windham and nearby communities will line up with friends and family at 9 a.m. outside of 70 Blossom Road and trot, walk, stroll, bike or skate either the 3 or 5 mile route. Find more details on the 19th-annual tradition here.

4. Out of town for Thanksgiving? No worries. There are plenty of other great New Hampshire turkey trot opportunities taking place this weekend. Check out the complete list here.

5. The weatherman says ...
A warm but wet and windy day awaits with a forecasted high of 55 degrees but a 100-percent chance of precipitation. The overnight low is 27 degrees.

6. Thanksgiving outlook. Though heavy rain and wind is expected Tuesday night through Wednesday, Thanksgiving's forecast now calls for a windy but dry day, with a forecasted high of 30-degrees and a 0-percent chance of rain.
