Second Pre-Primary Candidates Night Announced

The Southern N.H. 9-12 Project will host the event.

The Southern New Hampshire 9-12 Project has been busy yet again organizing political events in the town of Windham, and the organization has announced another local forum set to take place in September.

The group has announced a candidates night for state representatives scheduled to take place on Sept. 4 at Windham Town Hall.

This will be the second event of its kind in two weeks. On Aug. 21, the Windham Woman's Club invited all 10 canidates to Town Hall for a similar forum.

That event drew some controversy when all six Republican candidates declined to appear one day before the event after three had reportedly committed in July. One GOP candidate, Donna Mauro, had already declined due to her commitment and preparations as a delegate to the Republican National Convention.

Only Democratic candidates Carolyn Webber and Kristi St. Laurent appeared at the event.

Windham GOP Committee Chair Travis Blais later said that the GOP candidates

A letter from those six candidates read on Aug. 21 said that they would be happy to accept an invitation to any events after the Sept. 11 primary.

According to 9-12 Project Co-Coordinator Ken Eyring, Mauro has confirmed for the event along with fellow Republican candidates Charles McMahon, Kevin Waterhouse, Walter Kolodziej and Mark Samsel.

St. Laurent will be at the Democratic National Convention during the event, and the other three Democratic candidates have yet to confirm or decline.

The state primary will whittle down the Republican field from six to four, while the four Democrats will be uncontested on the ballot.

Four total seats in the House are up for grabs in Windham after this year's redistricting.

The event will begin at 7 p.m.
