Photographer Opens Windham Studio
Todd Thamer has been in the business for over 10 years. Now, he has a beautiful studio in the heart of Windham.
In the heart of Windham's Interstate 93 corridor, just on the fringe of the vacated Applewood Golf Links property, a barn-like building calls out to the hundreds of drivers that pass by each day on Range Road.
But the 1,500-square-foot space upstairs, which used to house a golf pro shop, will no longer remain empty. A local photographer has officially opened the doors to a spacious, modern studio.
Thamer Photography Studios, owned by 5-year Windham resident Todd Thamer, has actually been run out of Thamer's home for over a decade. The studio opening offers Thamer an avenue to expand his business and add a tier of professionalism as he networks with new clients.

While you could never guess from his stunning photographs, Thamer has no professional training in his craft.
"I'm self-taught," he said. "I've had a passion for photography for as long as I can remember. I've always been artistic as a child, and as an adult I felt like I needed a way to bring my artistic ability to the community and kind of turn my passion into something that will actually help others out, and I turned it into a business."

The new location will give Thamer some exciting new pathways to elaborate his creativity.
While part of his business specializes in both family and high school senior portraits, he said that he prefers to take those photos on location, which allows for a more "diverse, organic background."
In the studio, he will focus on the artsy, edgy lighting that is available to him. The space was also built to take advantage of natural lighting.
But before Thamer started building his studio in November, his search for the perfect space was thorough.
"It took us a while to decide on a location," said Thamer. "This location was perfect for us because of the proximity to I-93. in addition to that, you got to love this building. If you look at this building you say, 'that looks like a photography studio should go there."
Before the studio opened, a large bulk of Thamer's business came from wedding photography. In the future, he hopes to work with nearby wedding facilities such as Castleton Banquet and Conference Center.
Thamer Photography Studios shares a space at 57 Range Road with HBK Direct, which focuses on Internet retail.
