Senator Says National Guard Unlikely for Windham Land

The Eagle Tribune reported the news today.

The Eagle Tribune reported today that the National Guard is unlikely to buy the land in Windham formerly occupied by Applewood Golf Links.

According to the paper, State Sen. Jim Rausch (R-Derry) said that the National Guard will not have the resources to pursue the $20 million project, given that the state will have to come up with $3 million to reimburse the federal highway fund.

The driving range area has since been dismantled as the business has officially moved off the property.

At a meeting in late September, Rausch said that the value of the property is currently estimated at $3.4 million.

The location is 27 acres, and is viewed as one of the prime locations for commercial development in town, although zoning hurdles will have to be cleared.
