Shark Week 'Megalodon' Documentary Angers Fans

Shark Week on the Discovery Channel got off to a huge start, thanks in part to a controversial documentary on the fictionalized fish, the prehistoric Megalodon. Viewers took to social media to complain they were duped into believing the monster legend still exists.

Discovery Channel defended its decision to run with the film about a shark "legend," as opposed to a scientifically proven documentary, Fox News reports.

t may not matter so much, because TV is all about ratings, and Discovery had them – record viewership, in fact – for the Megalodon programming, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
