7. Fire Ravages Rockingham Road Salon

On March 23, a two-alarm fire started at Hair Solutions by Jane & Company around 8:30 a.m.

The business, located at 11 Rockingham Road, was heavily damaged by the blaze, which was caused by a gas fixture malfunction.

A man was also injured in the blaze and was later treated for burns to the hands and smoke inhalation.

But while it may have been easy for salon owner Jane Baetz to simply give up, throw in the towel she did not. Baetz found a temporary spot to move her business in Salem while she and her husband Scott worked on rebuilding the salon. Read our follow-up here.
