Totaled Police Cruiser to be Replaced Through Budget
A new vehicle will come to the department from Londonderry Ford.

A recently wrecked police cruiser will be replaced by a comparable vehicle from a Londonderry dealership following a Board of Selectmen discussion on Feb. 25.
The totaled vehicle was valued at $20,262.75 at the end of the deductible. The new cruiser will cost $24,135.72 and come from Londonderry Ford.
Police Chief Gerald Lewis said the Windham Police budget will assume the overage between the cost of the crashed car and the new one.

"I'll have to absorb that in the bottom line for the year," he said.
Lewis solicited replacement vehicle prices from seven dealerships, and only three of those on the list had a white police interceptor on their lot.

The cost of the Londonderry Ford vehicle was actually the second-lowest submitted, but the vehicle comes with a $3,000 equipment package not available in the vehicles on the other two lots.
That package will include an LED spotlight, siren on the front of the vehicle, electronics, trays and wiring into the headlights and tail lights.
By comparison, Hillsboro Ford offered a $23,881 cost while Erwin Ford charged $24,492.88.
Londonderry is not looking to turn a profit for the vehicle because the company wants Windham's business, Lewis said. The last purchase of a police vehicle was made from Hillsboro Ford.
