Windham 14U Squad Wins Regional Championship

The team finished eighth place nationally.

The town's AAU 14U baseball squad finished 8th in the country last week after heading to the spring training park of the Boston Red Sox last week for nationals.

The team advanced to the national tournament after taking home the New England regional championship in Rhode Island in mid-July.

The national games were played at JetBlue Park, which just opened this year.

Christopher Murphy, a player on the team, talked about the years of commitment that he and his teammates put in to get to this point.

"Our whole team has been working so hard together since we were about seven years old," he said. "It means so much to us that our group was able to accomplish all we did this season, even more so that we play teams that recruit kids from all over New England and beyond.

Murphy also talked about the effor that his coaches have put in for the squad.

"Our coaches have dedicated so much time for us, it made it possible for us to do what we have done," he said. "We have been through so much and we wish to continue this great success or many more years."

Bruce Yennaco serves as head coach for the team, while Dan Bresnahan and Joe DeLuca also coach.
