
If all goes as planned, the Windham Fire Department may soon purchase a new pump and ladder truck for roughly the price of a Ford F-250.
Should the department receive an $850,000 federal grant, the cost to the town would be a mere $40,000.
According to the Salem Observer, Windham Fire Chief Tom McPherson applied for the grant this week after receiving permission from the town's board of selectmen Monday night.
The department's current truck is nearly 30 year's old and was donated to WFD from the Merrimack Fire Department in 2002.
