New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan’s office has confirmed that the New Hampshire Executive Council will hold its next bi-monthly meeting at Windham High School.
The gathering – the latest in a series of traveling meetings being held around the state – takes place at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 18, in the WHS auditorium.
The meeting, the first to be held in a public school, is open to all residents who wish to attend.

“It is an honor for Windham High School to be chosen as the location for the Executive Council meeting," said WHS Principal Ryan Kaplan. "Not only will it be an opportunity for some of our students to meet the governor and other elective representatives of state government, but it will be a chance for us to showcase our outstanding educational program.”
Hassan – making her first visit to WHS – will tour the school with members of her Executive Council prior to the meeting.

Of course, this isn't the first time a big-name politician has visited Windham High School.
Gov. John Lynch was at WHS for its opening in August of 2009, and then spoke at the first graduation in June of 2012.
Then, President Barack Obama held a campaign rally at the school in August of that year.
Windham High School has 792 students in grades 9-12. Since opening in 2009, WHS has become known for the high quality of its educational opportunities. As the only 1:1 laptop initiative public school in New Hampshire, students in all grades at WHS are provided with Apple MacBook laptops, which are integrated into curricula and lessons in all disciplines. High quality teachers, including “teachers of the year” in four disciplines and the 2012 NH Teacher of the Year—Bethany Bernasconi—have guided students to score among the state’s top schools on the state-wide NECAP tests, and entry into some of America’s top colleges.
