Windham Rape Suspect Arrested for Violating Bail Conditions

A Windham man arrested in May on rape charges was bagged again by police this month for violating bail conditions.
Matthew J. Hand, 20, of 20 London Bridge Road was arrested on a warrant at the Salem Police Department June 1 and charged with two counts of default or breach of bail conditions.
According to Windham Police Capt. Mike Caron, Hand was temporarily staying at a residence in Windham that had individuals under the age of 16 also living there.

According to the conditions of Hand's bail, he was ordered to have no unsupervised contact with any individuals under the age of 16 except for family members.
Hand was also ordered to live with his mother in Nashua.

On May 1, Hand allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl in the bathroom of Baked on Pastries, a local pie shop.
He was arrested on May 6 and charged with felonious sexual assault – forcible rape and aggravated felonious sexual assault – forcible rape.
