Windham Selectmen to Trim a 10-Percent Budget Increase?
Tis' the season for budget review and modification.

Last Month, New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration recently certified a 55-cent tax increase for Windham residents.
Though the majority of that bump is credited to the Windham School District, the town's slice of the pie increased slightly as well.
Now Windham Selectmen are charged with paring down a roughly $14 million budget delivered to them by Town Administrator David Sullivan.

According to documents available on the Windham town website, the proposed 2014 municipal budget represents a $1,332,024 increase over the current fiscal year, or a 10.51 percent spike.
That includes a increases of $618,465, $351,880 and $361,679 for the operating budget, special articles and capital improvement, respectively.

According to the Lawrence Eagle Tribune, Sullivan has handed the $13,999,896 proposal to Windham's Selectmen and asked them to do their best to make tough decisions and trim the fat. The aformentioned special warrant articles include negotiated contracts for the town's police officers, firefighters and other municipal workers, according to the newspaper.
Residents will have their say on the selectmen's proposed budget at February's deliberative session and then at Town Meeting in March.
