With $132K Kindergarten Surplus, AC Could be Restored

The school board will take a course of action this week.

The Windham School Board will decide this week whether to use a $132,633.02 kindergarten project surplus on air conditioning in the new wing of Golden Brook School.

As it currently stands, the surplus will go back to Windham taxpayers in the fall.

where residents trimmed the $2,900,000 total project budget down to $2,522.191.

To retain the reduced budget, items such as air conditioning, gathering space paltforms, a granite bench, upgraded door hardware and other miscellaneous things were eliminated.

Despite the reduced budget, the project still came in well under at $2,389,557.98.

If the Windham School Board were to add air conditioning back in, a $115,000 cost would be incurred, leaving a $17,633.02 remaining surplus that would be returned.

The project was completed on time and opened for the 2012-2013 school year.
