2025 Winter Forecast: How Snowy And Cold Will It Be In NJ?
The 2024-25 Old Farmers' Almanac winter forecast has shared its predictions for what New Jersey will face in the coming season.

NEW JERSEY — Mild and dry conditions are expected in New Jersey this winter, while much of the United States should also see moderate temps, according to a new forecast from The Old Farmer’s Almanac.
The publication released its 2024-2025 outlook Aug. 28 and calls for the coming season to be "a calmer, gentler winter."
Skiers, snowboarders and other winter outdoor enthusiasts will have plenty of opportunities to play if they head to the Pacific Northwest, as well as parts of the Midwest stretching through the Ohio River valley into the Mid-Atlantic states, according to the forecast.

“This winter, temperatures will be up and snowfall down throughout most of the United States,” said Carol Connare, the Old Almanac’s editor-in-chief. “While there will still be plenty of chilly temperatures and snow for most slopes, the high heating costs associated with the season shouldn’t hit so hard. We’re predicting a temperate, uneventful winter — potentially a welcome reprieve from the extremes of recent years.”
The Old Farmer's Almanac splits the country into 18 different regions for its forecasts. Most of New Jersey is in the Atlantic Corridor Region, which encompasses cities from Boston to Richmond. The far northwest portion of the state is with Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, and parts of New York and Massachusetts under the Northeast Region.

In the Atlantic Corridor Region, temperatures are predicted to be average to slightly warmer than average this winter, except for in February — when forecasters say to expect colder weather than normal.
"The region will also experience shots of cold in mid-December, early and late January, and late February," the publication added.
Snowfall will be slightly below normal in the southern part of the Atlantic Corridor Region, with the most wintry precipitation expected in late December and late February.
In the Northeast Region, where "winter is always cold and snowy," the Old Almanac predicts warmer temperatures than average, and for the region to see a little less snowfall (between 1 and 1.5 percent below average). Residents in this area should expect to see snow in early December, mid-February, and early March, and the coldest periods will be mid-December and late February.
As a note, the Old Farmer's Almanac is a separate publication from the Farmer's Almanac, and the two have slightly different predictions and methods. Click here to read the Farmer's Almanac outlook for New Jersey, which called for a stormy winter in the Garden State.
