352K NJ Anchor Tax Rebate Checks Are Out: Here's What Is Next

Beginning on Wednesday, more checks are expected to be sent out to eligible New Jersey residents.

If you haven't received your ANCHOR rebate checks yet, check your mailbox as more are set to be sent out beginning on Wednesday.

As of Friday, a total of 352,000 payments were sent out to New Jerseyans totaling more than $489 million, according to Jeremy Lemmon, a Spokesman with the NJ Department of Treasury.

Those who filed paper applications are receiving checks, and online applicants had the option to get a check or direct deposit.

Of those payments, 251,000 were made via paper checks, totaling more than $372 million, and 101,000 were processed as direct deposits, totaling more than $117 million.

Beginning on Wednesday, Lemmon said checks will start rolling out to non-senior residents.

Eligible homeowners can expect to receive $1,500, with renters receiving $450. Senior homeowners can receive up to $1,750, and senior renters can receive up to $700, depending on their income.

Eligibility for ANCHOR rebate

Most residents who are eligible for ANCHOR benefits, who are under 65 and do not collect social security disability benefits, received a confirmation letter in August.

This letter confirms whether your application was auto-filed by the NJ Division of Taxation.

Those who did not receive a letter but believe they are eligible can still file their own application.

Homeowners are eligible if:

  • You were a New Jersey resident, and
  • You owned and occupied a home in New Jersey that was your principal residence (main home) on Oct. 1, 2024; and
  • Your home was subject to property taxes, and
  • Your 2024 New Jersey gross income was not more than $250,000.

Renters are eligible if:

  • You were a New Jersey resident
  • You rented and occupied a residence in New Jersey that was your principal residence (main home) on Oct. 1, 2024
  • Your name was on the lease or rental agreement
  • You paid rent
  • The rental property was subject to local property taxes
  • Your 2024 New Jersey gross income was not more than $150,000.
