Storms, 50 MPH Winds Possible As Advisories Issued In 16 NJ Counties
Thunderstorms, strong winds and hail are all possible as a system moves across New Jersey Tuesday afternoon, according to the forecast.
NEW JERSEY — Wind advisories have been issued in 16 New Jersey counties Tuesday as a cold front passes through the state, triggering the chances of showers, thunderstorms and even hail, according to the latest forecast.
Wind gusts of up to 50 mph are possible in Sussex, Warren, Morris, Hunterdon, Somerset, Monmouth, Middlesex, Gloucester, Camden, Burlington, Atlantic, Cape May, Mercer, Salem, Cumberland and Ocean counties, where advisories are set to run until 8 p.m., the National Weather Service said.
"Wind gusts have already reached 45+ mph in some areas and this could continue into the remainder of the afternoon," National Weather Service forecasters said Tuesday.

At this strength, winds can blow down tree branches and cause power outages, forecasters warn.
Through the afternoon and evening, isolated to scattered showers will move across the Garden State, potentially with damaging winds and small hail, forecasters say.

While these showers and storms will dissipate by sunset, winds of 20 to 30 mph will blow overnight, according to the National Weather Service.
Wednesday will remain windy, with gusts of 30 to 35 mph possible. However, the day will be a dry one, according to the National Weather Service.
