Forecasters expect as much as an inch of precipitation or more in some parts of the Garden State. Here's the latest:
NEW JERSEY - The first snowfall of 2023 may hit New Jersey this week, with forecasters expecting as much as an inch of precipitation in some parts of the Garden State.
A combination of light snow and rain is set to hit the state late Sunday afternoon into the overnight hours from southwest to northeast, the National Weather Service forecasters said in a statement, with the wintry mix expected to “hang on a bit longer” around the I-95 corridor into Monday.
The National Weather Service’s New York office, which covers Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Union counties, expects around a 40 percent chance of snow into Monday in North Jersey. Mostly rain is also expected along the Jersey Shore per the National Weather Service, as well as South Jersey, according to AccuWeather. However, changes in weather patterns could call for heavier snow and locally higher precipitation amounts up to two inches.

In both scenarios, the impact of the snowfall will be “limited,” forecasters said, though commuters may still need to plan a few extra minutes to avoid wet conditions Monday morning.
"At the very least, the Monday morning commute will be messy for some locations, especially in some of the slightly colder, northern and western suburbs of the I-95 mid-Atlantic cities," AccuWeather Meteorologist Dean DeVore said.
