Help Getting ANCHOR Rebate Available: See When, Where

NEW JERSEY — A number of communities around the state have free sessions scheduled for any resident who may need some help getting their ANCHOR application filed.

The deadline to apply for the ANCHOR (Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters) property tax rebate program is set for the end of November, and the state anticipates 2 million people will get a benefit this year. Just like last year, homeowners can receive up to a $1,500 refund and renters can get up to $450 — with eligible seniors 65 and older getting an extra $250.

Eligibility and payments for this year's ANCHOR program are based on your 2021 residency, income, and age. For that year, homeowners must have had an annual gross income of $250,000 or less, and renters must have had an annual income of $150,000 or less to be eligible.

Communities and local government leaders will be hosting in-person events through mid-November. Representatives from the state will be there to answer questions about the program, determine if residents are eligible, and help with filing an application.

As of Monday morning, Oct. 7, there are 28 public events listed on the Division of Taxation's website. Residents are asked to bring their government-issued ID to the events.
