Here’s How To Check ANCHOR Rebate Status
The state recently updated its website to allow residents to check their application status, and see when to expect a property tax rebate.

NEW JERSEY — There is still time for new applicants to sign up for New Jersey's property tax relief program, ANCHOR — with more than two months before the deadline of Nov. 30.
And for those who will get their rebate automatically, or have already submitted their applications, the state Division of Taxation has updated its website so people can check if the state received their information, and also look up their benefit status.
The ANCHOR program (Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters) is in its third year, and residents who qualify can get between $450 and $1,750 back in their pockets. For those 1.5 million people who were automatically enrolled, those checks are expected to start going out in October. Other applicants will get their payments on a rolling basis, about 90 days after they submit their application.

This year, the ANCHOR program is based on tax information from Fiscal Year 2021. Homeowners and renters can check their application status online, by selecting that year from the options. The website allows people to see if their application is in processing, and the date the state issued a benefit. It will also tell residents if the state doesn't have a record of processing their application.
About 2 million people are expected to receive an ANCHOR benefit this year, compared to 1.8 million last year and 1.6 million in 2022, according to a report from the Department of the Treasury published by the state legislature. The program paid out more than $2 billion last year, officials said.

And as more and more New Jersey homeowners and renters are seeking payments from the $2.28 billion program, officials have put new security measures in place to try and prevent fake applications. After stopping close to 1 million fraudulent applications last year, the state has partnered with ID.me, a network that allows people to provide proof of their identity virtually.
The extra security steps are "part of ongoing efforts to prevent fraud and safeguard taxpayer dollars," said the New Jersey Division of Taxation.
The new security measures apply to the following residents: First-time applicants, those who are looking for their ANCHOR ID and PIN, those who did not receive an ANCHOR benefit confirmation letter or application mailer, and those who no longer have their letter/mailer and the accompanying information.
More information about the program is available at anchor.nj.gov. Applicants may also call the ANCHOR hotline at (609) 826-4282 or 1-888-238-1233, or get in-person assistance at a Regional Information Center.
