Holiday Ticket Blitz Kicks Off In 125 NJ Towns: See Where
125 police departments across the Garden State are participating in New Jersey's annual "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign.
New Jersey's annual "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign kicked off with 125 police departments participating in the enforcement crackdown.
Crashes caused by impaired driving tend to spike during the holiday season, according to Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin.
"No one wants an empty seat at the holiday table," said Platkin. "Impaired driving is completely unacceptable and can have devastating consequences. Police across the state will be out removing impaired drivers from the road to protect New Jersey families during the holiday season."

The Division of Highway Traffic Safety (HTS) provided $703,500 to the participating law enforcement agencies to help mobilize targeted enforcement efforts between Dec. 5 and Jan. 1, 2026, by increasing patrols and checkpoints.
"So far, New Jersey has seen a decrease in fatal crashes in 2025 compared to last year," said Michael J. Rizol Jr., Director of the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety. "However, we are approaching a dangerous time of year when we see an increase in impaired driving. We urge everyone to make a plan to get home safely and never drive under the influence of alcohol or other substances."

There were 647 fatal crashes resulting in 684 fatalities in New Jersey last year. Of those drivers involved in fatal crashes, 32.5 percent had been drinking.
Last year, 130 law enforcement agencies participated in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, which resulted in 590 impaired driving arrests, 2,948 speeding summonses, and 1,038 seat belt summonses.
