Major Bank Closing More Branches In NJ: See Where, When

The TD Bank branch closures are among more than 50 on the East Coast, according to a report.

TD Bank, one of the largest financial institutions in the United States, will close dozens of locations along the East Coast, the company has announced.

All told, TD will close 51 branches in 12 states and Washington, D.C., they said. That includes eight bank locations in New Jersey that are set to close by Jan. 29, 2026.

It is the second round of closures announced by the bank in 2025, and comes after the bank pleaded guilty in October 2024 in a federal money laundering scheme and agreed to a $3 billion fine. It was the first national bank to do so.

Deficiencies in the bank's anti-money laundering compliance program "allowed criminal proceeds to flow" to Colombian cartels for more than a decade, officials charged. Details on the case are online here.

The branches set to close in January are as follows, according to Fast Company:

"As part of our normal business practices, we regularly evaluate existing TD Bank stores, which may result in some closures, consolidations, or relocations as we look for opportunities to better align our network of stores with customer needs and preferences," the company told Patch in March.
