Man Knocked Out Trying To Retrieve Phone From NJ Railway Track

HOBOKEN, NJ - A 25-year-old man is recovering Monday after he was knocked out trying to retrieve his phone along a PATH railway in Hoboken Sunday.

According to Port Authority Police, officers responded to the track at the Hoboken PATH station at 1:55 a.m. Sunday morning for a report of a man who was along the tracks. Police found the man on the tracks and unconscious after he was trying to get his cellphone that he dropped into the area.

The man came into contact with the third rail, and was taken to Jersey City Medical Center in stable, but serious condition. Power to the third rail was stopped while he was removed and stabilized. Operations at the station returned to normal at around 4 a.m.
