Winter Weather Advisories Issued Ahead Of Mid-Week NJ Storm
New Jersey will see snow, sleet, freezing rain and everything in between when a "messy" winter storm hits Wednesday night, forecasters say.
NEW JERSEY — Winter Weather Advisories have been issued across the western portion of the state ahead of a "messy mixed bag" of wintry precipitation that's expected to impact New Jersey Wednesday into Thursday, bringing snow, sleet, freezing rain and everything in between, National Weather Service forecasters said.
Forecasters warn that the forecast still "remains highly uncertain," but the Garden State will see a storm that could cause icy and slippery conditions Wednesday night through Thursday morning.
A Winter Weather Advisory will be in place in Morris, Hunterdon, Somerset, Mercer, Gloucester, Camden and northwestern Burlington counties from midnight Wednesday through 10 a.m. Thursday and through 12 p.m. for Sussex and Warren counties. Snow, ice and sleet are expected to accumulate, making for a slippery commute.

Snow and sleet accumulations of up to 2 inches are most likely to occur in the northwest corner of the state. It will be a heavy, wet snow compacted by sleet, resulting in icy slush. Totals could change depending on how the storm plays out, forecasters said.
Things should transition to a wintry mix or all rain by Thursday afternoon, forecasters said.

"The potential exists for dangerous amounts of ice accretion into Thursday," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Brandon Buckingham. "This poses a risk for tree damage and power outages as the storm moves through."
AccuWeather forecasters warned that there could be commute issues or delayed openings at schools Thursday.
"This is a highly uncertain forecast. Changes to the exact precipitation types and amounts are expected," the National Weather Service said. "Regardless, the main takeaway remains the same: wintry precipitation will lead to potentially icy and slippery conditions Wednesday night – Thursday morning."
