NJ ANCHOR Rebate Tax Rebate Deadline Approaching

A total of $1.2 billion in ANCHOR tax rebate checks have been sent out to NJ residents. See how to get yours before time runs out:

Time is running out to apply to receive your ANCHOR tax rebate check.

The deadline to apply for the ANC-1 and PAS-1 applications for tax year 2024 is Friday, Oct. 31. To apply visit, propertytaxrelief.nj.gov.

The ANCHOR tax rebate checks are being sent out to eligible New Jersey residents on a rolling basis.

As of Wednesday, a total of $1.1 million payments were sent out to New Jerseyans totaling more than $1.2 billion, according to Jeremy Lemmon, a Spokesman with the NJ Department of Treasury.

Of those payments, 522,000 were made via paper checks, totaling more than $637 million, and 632,000 were processed as direct deposits, totaling more than $629 million.

Eligible homeowners can expect to receive $1,500, with renters receiving $450. Senior homeowners can receive up to $1,750, and senior renters can receive up to $700, depending on their income.

Those who filed paper applications will receive checks, and online applicants had the option to get a check or direct deposit.

Check Your Status

For those that didn't recieve their check yet your benefits could still be on the way. Additionally for those that haven't applied yet, there is still time.

Applicants can submit an Application for Property Tax Relief on their own by Oct. 31.

You can check your status or apply online by visiting nj.gov/treasury/taxation/relief.

Eligibility for ANCHOR Rebate

Most residents who are eligible for ANCHOR benefits, who are under 65 and do not collect social security disability benefits, received a confirmation letter in August.

This letter confirms whether your application was auto-filed by the NJ Division of Taxation.

Those who did not receive a letter but believe they are eligible can still file their own application.

Homeowners are eligible if:

  • You were a New Jersey resident, and
  • You owned and occupied a home in New Jersey that was your principal residence (main home) on Oct. 1, 2024; and
  • Your home was subject to property taxes, and
  • Your 2024 New Jersey gross income was not more than $250,000.

Renters are eligible if:

  • You were a New Jersey resident
  • You rented and occupied a residence in New Jersey that was your principal residence (main home) on Oct. 1, 2024
  • Your name was on the lease or rental agreement
  • You paid rent
  • The rental property was subject to local property taxes
  • Your 2024 New Jersey gross income was not more than $150,000.
