NJ Man Hit, Killed By Tractor Trailer While Pushing Disabled Car Along PA Highway

The driver of the truck was traveling eastbound before hitting the Equinox and another tractor-trailer that was disabled.

GLENDON BOUROUGH, PA - A 33-year-old New Jersey man is dead after he was hit by a tractor-trailer Monday night along I-78 in Pennsylvania.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the crash happened around 10:15 p.m. on the eastbound lanes in the area of mile marker 74.3. Police reported that a man was pushing a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox after it had run out of gas when he was hit by a tractor trailer. A woman was in the driver's seat steering the SUV at the time of the collision.

The victim was identified by the Northampton County Coroner as Tyler R. Kolaja of Hamburg. He died of multiple blunt force injuries, the coroner said.

The woman was taken to Saint Luke's Anderson Hospital. Her condition is unknown.

During the crash, all traffic was detoured to State Route 33 before being reopened at around 4 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Police are still looking into the details of the crash with the help of the Northampton County Coroner's Office.
