NJ Memorial Day 2024: Here Is Your Holiday Weekend Forecast

Will you have to adjust your plans for the upcoming three-day Memorial Day Weekend? Here's the full forecast.

NEW JERSEY — Good news for Garden State residents traveling for the long Memorial Day weekend: much less rain is in the cards for the days ahead, forecasters said.

While early Memorial Day weekend travelers may see thunderstorms and showers in Central and South Jersey on Friday morning, a “quiet rest of the weekend” with “highs warming into the low to mid 80s” is expected, according to the National Weather Service Mount Holly station.

Friday’s forecast calls for low-80s temperatures and a moderate (40 to 50 percent) chance for rain and thunderstorms south of Trenton, the weather service said. Saturday will be warmer with mid-80s temperatures, mostly cloudy skies and 5 mph winds; Sunday will see similar summer-like temperatures with partly cloudy skies and light winds.

Despite the dry weekend forecast, Monday will still see a chance of showers and thunderstorms throughout the day, with some storms capable of producing heavy rainfall, the National Weather Service said. Travel delays, flooding, downpours and hail are possible, as well as localized damaging wind gusts between 55 and 65 mph, AccuWeather noted.

The thunderstorms are expected to continue through Monday night, though lingering showers are still possible Tuesday into Wednesday, the weather service said.
