NEW JERSEY — If you're looking to try something new for Memorial Day in the Garden State, look no further than a site with plenty of history.

In a survey of over 3,000 Americans by gamblingngo.com, people across the United States were asked what parks they enjoyed most for outdoor family fun for Memorial Day activities.

Packed with plenty of history and outdoor options, New Jersey’s Liberty State Park took the top slot.

While the more traditional park activities like boating, hiking trails, picnic areas and a playground are a part of the lore, this Jersey City destination also boasts an outdoor entertainment performance area and its own museum.

The Liberty Science Center houses artifact exhibits, interactive fossil digs, and even climbing walls for kids to enjoy.

Located in Jersey City, the clear view to Manhattan's skyline and the Statue of Liberty also doubles as the namesake for the nearby "Empty Sky" 9/11 Memorial. Here, two stainless steel twin walls are engraved with the names of those who lived in, or had ties to, New Jersey who lost their lives at the World Trade Center in 2001.

"Gambling N Go" calls Liberty State Park one of a group of destinations where "family outings double as informal history lessons.

Liberty State Park is located at 222 Jersey City Blvd in Jersey City.
