NJ Weather: Flood Warnings, Up To 2 More Inches Of Rain In Forecast
Over 3 inches of rain have already fallen in parts of NJ, but some areas may see additional accumulation through Sunday, forecasters said.
NEW JERSEY - A wet weekend is in store for New Jersey, with several inches of precipitation already triggering flood warnings and more rain on the way, forecasters said.
While over three inches of rain have already fallen in the last 24 hours in areas like Pemberton and Toms River, up to two more inches of rain are set to fall on the Garden State through Sunday night, the National Weather Service said.
The northeasternmost portion of the state is likely to see the most additional rainfall, while South Jersey and parts of the Jersey Shore could see between 1 and 1.5 inches through Sunday, the agency said. Less than an inch of rain is predicted in areas hugging the shore south of Toms River to Cape May, according to an updated rainfall map posted Saturday.

Interstate 195 between mile markers 25 and 34 and the Garden State Parkway between mile markers 57 and 118 are also impacted, the agency said.
“Turn around,” forecasters added. “Don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Do not drive around barricades or drive through water of unknown depth.”
Salem County and inland Ocean County are also under a hazardous weather outlook, with minor coastal flooding possible Sunday.
Showers are set to subside by the wee hours of Monday morning, forecasters said. A thunderstorm in South Jersey is also possible on Sunday night.
