Pedestrian Hit By Car, Trapped In Bergen County Crash

CPR and other life-saving tactics were performed, authorities said.

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ — A person was hit by a car on Wednesday evening, the East Rutherford Fire Department said.

At around 6 p.m., firefighters responded to the intersection of Paterson Avenue and Washington Place for a report of a pedestrian who was struck.

Officials found someone trapped underneath and used rescue tools to lift the car and free the person. The Wallington Fire Department also assisted at the scene.

CPR and other life-saving tactics were administered immediately, authorities said.

The person was then taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
