Pilot Dies After Plane Crashes, Catches Fire In Hunterdon County

ALEXANDRIA, NJ — A pilot was killed after a plane crashed in Hunterdon County on Friday.

Around 4:40 p.m. on Friday, emergency responders were called to Airport Road and Mechlins Corner Road in Alexandria Township for a plane down.

Authorities found a plane crash with fire in a heavily wooded area, according to Quakertown NJ Fire Company-91 Fire/Rescue.

The fire was extinguished, and a pilot was found dead, said the fire department.

"Only the pilot was on board," said the Federal Aviation Administration(FAA) to Patch. "The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate. The NTSB is the lead investigative agency and will provide any updates."

The plane was described as a Chinook Plus 2.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with those impacted by this tragedy," said the fire department.
