5 NJ Counties Flip Red In Trump Vs. Harris Race: See Breakdown

NEW JERSEY — Donald Trump flipped five New Jersey counties from blue to red in Tuesday night's presidential election, showing he made gains in the Garden State since the 2020 election.

Tuesday was a busy Election Day, and more than 4 million New Jersey residents cast their vote for President; final tallies were still being calculated early Wednesday afternoon.

Current Vice President Kamala Harris was expected to concede to Trump, who won a second non-consecutive term in the White House, at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Harris won New Jersey by 177,150 votes and 4.3 points according to the most recent results — a much smaller margin against Trump than in 2020, when Biden won the state by 16 percentage points; or in 2016, when Hillary Clinton won by 14 points.

The latest tally, with 94 percent of precincts reporting, is 2,090,864 votes for Harris and 1,914,269 for Trump. More than 79,400 people cast their ballots for third-party candidates, including 37,308 for Green Party mainstay Jill Stein and 22,273 for Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was on New Jersey's ballot though he did not appear on every state's.

Morris, Passaic, Gloucester, Cumberland, and Atlantic counties had all gone for Joe Biden in 2020 — but Trump won these counties on Tuesday.

Trump did predictably well in Ocean County, where he had more than 117,000 votes over Harris and a 36-point lead.

Harris saw her biggest lead in Essex County, with a 44-point lead and close to 130,000 votes over Trump.

Races were closest in Bergen County and Gloucester County, where the margin of victory was 3.1 percent for Harris and 3 percent for Trump, respectively.
