Severe Storms With Damaging Winds To Hit NJ As Next Cold Front Moves In
A strong cold front moves into the state Saturday, bringing with it strong to severe storms and damaging wind gusts.
Severe thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts are possible across New Jersey Saturday as a cold front moves into the state, according to the latest forecast.
A decaying cold front over the state dissipates Friday, making for a dry day, according to the National Weather Service.
Before the next round of storms, Saturday will be warmer than the past several days have been, forecasters said.

"Ahead of the front into the Delaware Valley, central and southern New Jersey, and Delmarva, warm advection and more sun should cause temperature to surge well into the mid to upper 80s, and perhaps near 90 degrees in some spots," National Weather Service forecasters said.
But a stronger cold front is coming Saturday, forecasters said. This front will trigger strong to severe scattered thunderstorms Saturday afternoon through evening.

These storms could have damaging wind gusts of up to 60 mph and frequent lightning, according to the National Weather Service.
Much of the Garden State is at a marginal risk of severe weather Saturday. Forecasters added that the risk could be increased later Friday.

"Long story short, expect widespread showers and thunderstorms with potential for at least some severe thunderstorms, especially near the urban corridor," the National Weather Service said.
After the storms the temperature will drop, ushering in a cooler, dry period.
"Some scattered lingering showers will be possible, especially toward the coast, but nothing of significance and most of the day should be dry," the National Weather service said for Sunday's forecast.
