Winter Storm Could Bring Snow, Ice to NJ This Week
A winter storm Wednesday could bring snow, freezing rain and ice to New Jersey, potentially kicking off a stormy stretch, forecasters say.
NEW JERSEY — A midweek winter storm is set to coat New Jersey in a mixture of snow, freezing rain and ice, and could potentially kick off one of the stormiest stretches of this winter so far in the first half of February, forecasters say.
The week will start off quiet and mild, but things will change Wednesday, according to the latest forecast.
"A clash of warm, humid air and cold Arctic air will result in a myriad of impactful weather for millions of Americans this week," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Brandon Buckingham. "Severe thunderstorms, a dangerous ice storm and accumulating snow are all expected between Wednesday and Thursday as a storm races east."

Snowfall totals will likely be less than once inch, National Weather Service forecasters said. However, a "sloppy mess of mixed precipitation" mostly along the I-195 corridor could set off winter weather advisories, the National Weather Service said.
Much of the state could see localized icing impacts, AccuWeather forecasters predict.

"The potential exists for dangerous amounts of ice accretion into Thursday," Buckingham said. "This poses a risk for tree damage and power outages as the storm moves through."
This could also make for a slick Thursday morning commute.
AccuWeather long-range forecasters are also warning of the potential for a stormy first half of the month.
"We are monitoring three potential storms between Feb. 5-11," said AccuWeather Lead Long-Range Forecaster Paul Pastelok last month. "This will be a busy pattern with potential disruptions to travel and business."
A storm Saturday into Sunday could bring more wintry precipitation to New Jersey, according to the National Weather Service. However, it's still too early to tell exactly how that will play out.
