Snow, Ice In NJ Weekend Forecast

Two inches of rain and some snowflakes at higher elevations are in store Friday and Saturday across the Garden State, forecasters say.

NEW JERSEY — Some snow but mostly rain is ahead for the next two days in New Jersey as cold temperatures make this storm feel more like late winter than spring, according to the latest forecast.

Friday is overcast and cloudy, with occasional showers becoming more widespread and steadier as the day goes on, National Weather Service forecasters said.

South Jerseyans may hear a rumble of thunder, but no severe weather is expected. Later tonight, the northwest corner of the state may also see some snow, but accumulations are limited to maybe a tenth or two of an inch, forecasters said.

Temperatures will range from the mid-40s to the mid-50s Friday, with Saturday's temps looking to be in the 40s statewide.

"In areas from near New Jersey and New York City to central New England and Boston, east to northeast breezes will last around 48 hours or so mainly from Thursday night to Saturday afternoon," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dave Dombek said. "The duration of the onshore wind and the upcoming full moon (April 12) close to the same time will lead to coastal flooding at times of high tide."

Coastal flooding is a risk, but other than that, not much flooding is expected.

"However, even as the bulk of the rain comes this evening/tonight, flooding concerns are minimal as rates won't be very impressive," the National Weather Service said. "Overall, this system looks to be a breezy beneficial rain."

Things will warm up on Sunday with even some sunshine peeking through, before Monday hits with sunny skies and temperatures in the 60s.
