Stormy Week Ahead For NJ: Thunderstorms, Rain, Fog Through Sunday

Storm lovers, rejoice: the Garden State is in store for a wet week with plenty of chances for showers and thunderstorms, forecasters said.

NEW JERSEY — Storm lovers, rejoice: the Garden State is in store for a wet week with plenty of chances for showers, fog and thunderstorms, forecasters said.

Rain is in the forecast until at least Sunday, according to the National Weather Service, with thunderstorms possible through Thursday. Daytime highs are slated to be around 70 degrees Monday before jumping to around 77 and 84 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

Monday and Tuesday also holds the chance for morning fog affecting rush hour commuting, the weather service said.

Thursday will see continued gloom with daytime highs in the high 60s, the weather service said.

Friday will set the stage for a wet, albeit partly sunny, weekend in the 60s.

North Jersey

Monday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Patchy fog before 11 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 73. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph.

Monday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. West wind around 6 mph becoming north after midnight.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. North wind around 8 mph becoming west in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night: Showers likely, mainly after 2 a.m. Increasing clouds, with a low around 59. South wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Wednesday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., then a chance of showers after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 83. West wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 57.

Central Jersey

Monday: A slight chance of showers after 3 p.m. Patchy fog before 11 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 70. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Monday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, then a chance of showers after 11 p.m. Patchy fog after 11 p.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 60. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday: A chance of showers before 8 a.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Patchy fog between 8 and 11 a.m. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 78.
