Thunderstorms, Severe Weather Target NJ As Rounds Of Rain Move Through

NEW JERSEY — A warm and rainy Thursday is in store for New Jersey, with the possibility of some severe thunderstorms later in the evening, according to the latest forecast.

On and off showers will hit throughout the day and into tonight, the National Weather Service said, with two main rounds. The first round is in the morning, with mostly just showers expected and nothing severe.

The second round will be more intense, forecasters said. This evening and overnight, there could be some thunderstorms and there is a small chance that these could be severe, National Weather Service forecasters said.

If severe storms do occur, the greatest risk will be damaging winds, forecasters said.

High temperatures will range from the upper 60s to the upper 70s, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will fluctuate throughout the weekend as rainy conditions continue into next week.

"The pattern is similar to last weekend in the Northeast where temperatures hovered in the 30s, 40s and 50s in the chilly air, but outside of that chilly wedge, temperatures reached balmy levels in the 60s, 70s and 80s," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dave Dombek said.

North Jersey
